So today is an exciting day in the world of Alexis and Femme en Noir because today this blog turns a year old. I started this blog as a creative outlet to express my sense of style, add a new perspective to the fashion blogosphere, and mostly to keep myself writing and pushing my own boundaries with fashion.
This past year I have really discovered what I have to say regarding fashion. I’ve discovered my voice, my style, and what direction I would like to go in. As a writer trying to make it in the world of fashion in NYC, this blog has kept me motivated, and is a constant reminder to keep reaching for my dream to be an editor at a top fashion magazine.
But it has been a struggle. There have been times when I’ve been lazy and not done a photo shoot or posted for a month. There have been times when I’ve decided that spending time with friends is more important than writing a blog post and making sure it goes out on time. There have been times I’ve been so discouraged by the Instagram algorithm and really wondered what the point was.
And don’t worry. I found the point. Thankfully. And I’m going to keep sharing my fashion voice for another year. I’ve been very fortunate to partner with a few small brands and companies, work with AMAZING photographers (they literally do magic and make me look pretty), and consult my super supportive and wonderful roommate (and her closet hehe) on some styling tips and trends.
So to celebrate this day, I thought I’d do a little #tbt (yes I know it’s a Monday, don’t be rude) and share my favorite looks that I’ve shot this past year. Thank you all for your support, comments, ideas, etc. I hope you continue to follow my blog this next year. I have a lot of exciting content coming soon that I can’t wait to share with all of you!
