FRIDAY FAVORITES: Denim

So the only other thing I like as much as I like wearing black and white is wearing denim. Like I swear I own at least 10 pairs of jeans and I have denim shirts, several denim jackets, denim dresses, AND denim skirts. There's just something so simple and classic about denim that I can't get enough of. SOOOO, I decided to scour the internet and find some of my favorite denim pieces ( and denim is HUGE this fall, so I had a lot to choose from) that are on my wishlist. BONUS: They're all under $100. Let me know which one is your favorite! Enjoy!

p.s. you might be seeing me in one or more of these items this fall... no shame

1. The Jeans - Zara ($49.90) Get them here.

So two-tone denim is, and always has been, one of my favorite trends. I love these pants because they’re not the usual two-tone denim that splits down the middle of each leg. I like that each leg of these pants is a totally different color and I think it makes them kind of unique. Also, I love the fact that these are straight leg pants. I’m a huge fan of straight legs because I have pretty muscular thighs from skating and so it’s hard to find jeans that fit my thighs and then aren’t too big in the waist and straight legs always do. Plus they’re ultra flattering. Also these pants have a cute shadow pocket detail in the back which I looooove. 10/10, would recommend.

2. The Shoes - Nine West ($59,99) Get them here.

Gahhh these mules are so cute, aren’t they? I love mules, especially for summer/early fall because you can have open-toed ones and feel like your toes aren’t going to fall off and I think they’re a great alternative to loafers/dressier shoes. Again, these are two-tone so I love them. I think they’re a simple, nice shoe and they look very classic. Sometimes, it’s hard to find denim shoes that aren’t overboard, but I think these really do the trick.

3. The Hat - NastyGal ($16) Get it here.

I’ve really been trying to get into wearing baseball caps lately, and it has been kinda hard, but I think I’m starting to like it. I’ve figured out that I really like wearing just plain baseball caps – no logos or patches or designs (unless I’m actually going to a sports game, then of course I would wear a logo, duh). I think this denim one is pretty simple and the wash is very nice.

4. The Kimono - Urban Outfitters ($69) Get it here.

So instead of finding a classic denim jacket, I decided to pick this kimono, which would be a great alternative. I think denim jackets are the one area that people don’t explore enough. I always see the classic trucker jackets everywhere, just done in different washes or with patches or distressed, but no one ever really pushes the envelope with them. So I think that’s why I like this one so much. It’s different, but it’s very simple and can be very versatile.

5. The Jumpsuit - Lulu's ($72) Get it here.

Ok, so I picked this jumpsuit for the same reason that I picked the kimono. I love overalls so so so so so so sooooo much. BUT, I feel like I only see people wear the classic overalls. Maybe in various colors, but very similar silouettes. And so, once I saw this jumpsuit, I knew I liked it because it’s close enough to overalls without actually being overalls. It’s like the dressier version of an overall. You could actually wear this to work or just chilling on the weekend.

6. The Tank - H&M ($9.99) Get it here.

This tank is a perfect transition piece from summer to fall. In NYC, it’s still super hot right now, and probably will be for at least another month. But the great thing about this tank is that now I can wear it with a cute pair of shorts or a skirt, and then once the weather starts to get cool, I can wear it with a pair of skinny jeans or even throw a jacket on over it. And since denim is a timeless fabric, it will transition easily from season to season.

7. The Corset Belt - ASOS ($12) Get it here.

At first I was so against corset anything, but the more that I see it being implemented into shirts and dresses, the more that I like it. I think it’s actual corsets that I don’t like. (Don’t wear them people! They do bad things to your body!) I like corset details. And I like how this one looks. It can add some good detail to a T-shirt dress or a plain tee and really accentuate the waist.

8. The Skirt - Free People ($69) Get it here.

My favorite part of this skirt is the fact that the zipper is on the side. I love how simple this skirt is and I think that the zipper adds just the right amount of detail to it. This skirt is definitely pretty short, so stick to it for the weekend.

9. The Dress - Topshop ($80) Get it here.

I’ve got one word for you with this dress and that’s EMBROIDERY. I love embroidered stuff, and it’s a HUGE trend right now, so we’re seeing it literally everywhere. I like how subtle the embroidery is on this dress and I like the fact that it’s a simple shift silhouette. You could easily wear a white tee underneath this and white sneakers for a relaxed look, or go with strappy brown sandals and a flowy kimono for more of a boho look.
