BLUES CLUES

Hey guys! Happy Monday! I hope that some of you were able to enjoy the nice weather on Saturday like I did! I literally spent four hours in central park reading my book and having a picnic. It was glorious.

Just like this outfit is. (like my good segue there?)  I’m such a huge fan of denim on denim outfits (here’s one i did several months ago), so obviously I had to do another one for spring/summer. The key with denim on denim is to make sure that the two pieces have the same undertones (you know how some denim has more of a cerulean undertone and others are more like a royal blue) and that you’re wearing two different shades (I’m a fan of lighter on top and darker on bottom, but you can do your own thang).

The real star of this outfit (and also my fave part) is this top. I love it because 1) I’m obsessed with denim tops (and everything denim in general) 2) because it’s got buttons all down the front and I love everything that’s a button down. This top is so sweet and cute and perfect for a date night!

So one important thing to note about this top is that if you’re bustier like i am you should go a size up. I’m usually a medium in tops at Zara and that’s the size that i got in this top and I’m really wishing that i got a large. The material is not stretchy at all and so at certain points while wearing this top, i got the annoying gaps between the buttons on the shirt. You can wear this shirt lower on the shoulders to avoid that, but then it goes pretty low cut and can be a little scandalous *GASP*.

And you don’t have to be like me and wear this with regular ‘ol pair of jeans. You could easily wear it with a pair of black or white skinny jeans, go a little crazy with a structured wide-leg pant, or even wear it with printed or striped pants. It’s super versatile so you can change the feel of your look with your pants.

And even though the outfit is super simple itself, I suggest keeping it simple with accessories. Keep your look clean and go with small metal earrings (like hoops or simple dangles) and thin gold or silver necklaces.

So, what do you guys think? Are you a fan of denim on denim? Or not your thing? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below!

Xoxo,

Lex
